It doesn’t seem like thirty-four years ago, but way back in 1976 I first started playing guitar age nine.
School assembly’s were my very first experience of an audience and by summer ‘83 I was getting paid at last by gigging local colleges and bars. I really wanted to play guitar and nothing else, not a great deal has changed but back in the beginning as is often the case it was on hearing Jimi Hendrix that my love affair, and infatuation if you will with the guitar started.
I heard the Blues when I was very young somewhere around three or four years old I remember Muddy waters song Honey Bee, names like Big Bill Broonzy and Sonny boy Williamson were Common on my folk’s player as well as Peter Green and Eric Clapton.
During the late eighties I decided to put my own Blues band together, playing as a three piece like my favorites had done, working the uk’s version of the Chitlin circuit mostly Bars and Party’s.
It was around this time that the Blues and all of us guitarist’s had a wake up call thanks to the Texan Stevie Ray Vaughan who remains one of my greatest influences not only as a musician but also as a person, although It wasn’t until after ten years of hard gigging that I started to get to play bigger and better paid venues and then Festivals, which are still my most enjoyed.
Performing material from pre war era Delta Blues through to contempory Blues Dave works with his three-piece Band, which perform a Texas/Chicago hybrid Blues heavily influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy.
